What Does The iRobot Scooba Do?
The iRobot Scooba is an award-winning, floor-washing robot that cleans sealed hardwood, tile and linoleum floors. The device can clean up to 500 square feet on a single battery charge.
The Scooba cleans in Four stages:
Prep Stage: Picks up dirt, debris etc.
Washing Stage: Releases the cleaning solution onto your floor.
Scrubbing Stage: Gets to work, removing dirt, grime and stuck-on messes.
Drying Stage: Lifts dirty water from your floor leaving a shiny, clean finish.
As with the Roomba (vacuum cleaning robot) the Scooba’s autonomous cleaning pattern covers each area of the floor 5 times and cleans up to 250 square feet before requiring refilling.

One 8-ounce bottle of Clorox Scooba Cleaning Solution

iRobot Scooba Review
Having owned 2 models of iRobots Roomba vacuum, I was left with a great amount of anticipation and excitement having ordered the Scooba. The Roomba’s had been great additions to the family! and had relieved me of the menial task of vacuuming our carpets and floors, welcoming the Scooba to the family would hopefully relieve me of floor washing duties as well.
Initial impressions of the device were great and I was eager to get the robot to work, not only so I could report back to this iRobot Scooba review but to admire my newly cleaned floors. To my relief the device worked well, sweeping and then mopping the floor to a very high standard. As with the Roomba I find it fun to watch the Scooba at work.
As you have probably realized the iRobot Scooba will take a little more setting up than the Roomba and will also need monitoring and refiling during a cleaning cycle. I use the following steps:
1) First add solution (included) and water using the measuring cup (also included)
2) When using the device for the first time or after periods of little use, you need to prime it. This involves using the suction cup ball to manually add water to the main line, which draws water out of the clean tank. Failing to do this will result in the robot not releasing any water after you set it to work.
3) Once part 1 and 2 are done the device is ready to rock and roll and of course clean.
4) After you have witnessed the device do it’s thing and your floors are clean and shiny you need to empty the tank of dirty water, for obvious reasons.
5) As With the Roomba regular maintenance and cleaning is essential after each cycle. The filter screen is easy to remove and clean revealing the brushes and areas underneath which will also require some TLC
Not So Good Features of The iRobot Scooba in this Review.
There is no getting round the fact the device is expensive, but so is hiring a maid. The Scooba will need babysitting, unlike the Roomba which can be left to vacuum when you are out or asleep. The device is a lot larger than the Roomba so will not be able to get underneath obstacles, it’s vacuuming relative can.
Buying replacement cleaning solution can work out very expensive, so I would suggest using vinegar or as I did- cheaper alternative soap solutions which can be bought at any store.
All in all the device did not disappoint, and as hoped has been a great addition to my ever expanding robotic cleaning family. If you have large open floor areas which need cleaning on a regular basis, my advice in this iRobot Scooba review is go out and buy one.
